24th Annual Pictures by the People

Opening Reception July 8, 2011 5-7:30pm

An opening reception will be held from 5 – 7:30 p.m. Friday for the “24th Annual Pictures by the People” show at the Margaret Harwell Art Museum.

There is no admission charge; we welcome you to join us for ice cream and a look at the work of our talented photographers.

Winners of the photo contest were selected for the exhibit by juror Todd Tuttle, Nature’s Lens Work.

The winner of the grand prize purchase award and first, second and third place winners of professional, adult and junior division will be awarded $100, $75, $50 and $25 respectively.

Christine Anthony of Doniphan will be presented the $100 grand prize purchase award for her photograph “The Creek.”

The following photographers have been selected winners in each division:

PROFESSIONAL
Tim Peluso, first place for “Andy Shot Me;” Tim Peluso, second place for “Sedona Reflection;” David Black, third place for “O and G.”

ADULT
Christine Anthony, first place for “The Creek;” Don Ainley, second place for ”Green Crowned Brillant Hummingbird;” David Peluso, third place for “Future Friends;” James Sisk, Honorable Mention for “Steaming Out of the Past;” and Mark Pelton, Honorable  Mention for “Morning, Big Spring Lodge.”

JUNIOR
Alexis Mandry, first place for “Dominoes;” Alexis Mandry, second place for “Day Lilies;” Cooper Hornbeck, third place for “Steam, Steam, Steam!” and Joy Pelton, honorable mention for “Growing Buffalo.”

SPECIAL TECHNIQUE AWARD
Larry Braun for his photo “Harmony.”
These and other excellent photographs will be on display July 2 – 31.
