58th Annual Artist Guild Exhibit

THE 58TH ANNUAL POPLAR BLUFF ARTISTS’ GUILD REGIONAL ART EXHIBIT”
Poplar Bluff artist James W. Huck has won Best of Show at the 58th Annual Poplar Bluff Artists’Guild Regional Art Exhibit.

His woodcarving “Once Upon a Rainy Day in an Attic Far, Far Away” will be on display with other winning art pieces at the Margaret Harwell Art Museum, 421 N. Main Street, during the month of November.
The exhibit opens Saturday and the public is invited to an opening reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. This reception is sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. Milton Eichmann and held to honor the artists and families.
Winners were chosen by juror Sali Ware. The Best of Show award was sponsored by Commerce Bank. Financial assistance has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
The following artists has been selected as winners in each category:
Acrylic: First place “Painted Lady” by Kathy Dickson of Poplar Bluff; second place “Panel Van” by Mitchel Duggar of Fairdealing; third place “Mystery Man” by Mary Taylor of Poplar Bluff and honorable mention “Powder Burn, First One Seven Five by Mitchel Duggar of Fairdealing.

Oil: First place “Self Portrait as Possessed” by Caleb Knodell of Poplar Bluff; second place “Big Field at Dusk” by Mike Phelps of Poplar Bluff, third place “The Tyranny of Technology” by Mark Mercer of PoplarBluff; and honorable mention “Pink Guitar” by Candace Miller of Corning, AR.

Watercolor: First place “Garland of Glory” by Barbara Ross of Sikeston; second place “Reaching Out” by Betty Jo Bennett Ruble of Patterson; third place “African Queen” by Mary Taylor of Poplar Bluff; and honorable mention “Belgium Reflections” by Barbara Ross of Sikeston.
Three dimensional: First place “The Flow of Time” by Tina Magill of Poplar Bluff; second place “Great Horned Owl” and third place “White Blossoms” by Judy Smith of Poplar Bluff; and honorable mention “Serpentine Labyrinth Udu” by Ruth Garner of Poplar Bluff.

Mixed Media: First place “After the Storm” by Betty Jo Bennett Ruble of Patterson; second place “America” by Kathy Dickson of Poplar Bluff; third place “Repeating Doom” and honorable mention “Fishymon” by Robyn Chapman of Van Buren.
Graphic Arts: First place “Cavalry Soldier” by Gena Davis of Fisk; second place “Wisconsin Memories” and third place ‘Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” by Gary Youngquist of Malden; and honorable mention “Flying Demon” by Caleb Knodell of Poplar Bluff.

Fiber: First place “Perplexing” by Debora Dunnegan of Silva.
Wood sculpture: First place “Once Upon a Rainy Day in an Attic Far, Far Away” by James W. Huck of Poplar Bluff; second place “Red Sky at Morn” and third place “Blossom II” by James Pinkerton of Poplar Bluff.

Miniature: First place “Reading” by Caleb Knodell of Poplar Bluff; second place “Autumn Meadow” by Mike Phelps of Poplar Bluff; third place “Home Sweet Home” by Debora Dunnegan of Silva; and honorable mention “Itty Bitty Ozarks” by Mark Mercer of Poplar Bluff.
